NAS WILDWOOD EDUCATIONAL RESOURCES

NASW Foundation is in the process of developing a wide range of educational resources at Hangar #1. NASW was recently selected as a member of the Cape May County Distance Learning Consortium. Distance Learning using compressed video and ISDN technology is now available which enables museum educators to interact with students at alternate sites via interactive video/teleconferencing. Students are now able to take "virtual" field trips to NASW as well as actual ones. In addition to development of our video conferencing program, we are presently installing an aviation library which is incorporated into the Cape May County Library system.

Note: Currently the Distance learning program is suspended till further notice. Contact the office @ 609-886-8787 for more information

Distance Learning Programs

NASW presently offers the following Distance Learning programs:

NASW is pleased to offer two new distance learning programs. They will assist your students in gaining a greater understanding of the tumultuous Second World War era and its effect on the United States.

Ration Books and Bond Drives: "The World War II Home Front”  examines how Americans adapted to life in a nation engaged in total war from the time of the attack on Pearl Harbor to final victory in September 1945. Using authentic artifacts from the period, along with reproduction items, this presentation covers a variety of topics such as rationing, family life, civil defense, blackouts and dimouts and the role of women and children in the war effort.
“Next Stop, Tokyo: Naval Air Station Wildwood’s Contribution to Victory"

tells the story of how an obscure patch of farmland in Lower Township, New Jersey became an important advanced training base for US Navy pilots and aircrew as they prepared to fight the war in the Pacific, as well as the effect that this busy base had on the local community.

Each of these programs lasts approximately 40 minutes. They are available Monday through Friday between 9 am and 3 pm ET from October 1st to April 30th. Supplementary materials will be sent to you prior to the presentation. The cost is $70 per presentation for Cape May County schools and member schools of the Garden State Distance Learning Consortium, $85 for all others. Should you have any questions, or if you would like to schedule a program, please feel free to contact me. We look forward to working with you!
